29 AUG 2017 - A QUICK RECAP AND REVIEW OF LAST SEASON

A brief summary review of the conclusion of last season:-

In our first ever season competing in Division 2 of the Edinburgh & Lothian League as it is now known, we came very close to a second consecutive promotion. We got off to a bad start losing our first match. We were then unbeaten for the remainder of the league season and finished in 2nd place. This resulted in a play off match against a good Edinburgh (3) team, which we narrowly lost 2 - 3.

We did however finally manage to beat Musselburgh at the third time of asking in the inaugral East Lothian Cup match.

Sadly we lost a founding member Dave Adams, who was a big supporter of the club and one of our best attended regulars at club nights and for team action. He also held the treasurer role since the clubs formation. Dave returned to his home roots in the South of England, and we wish him well and hope to see him again in the future.

The season finished off with a bang as we hosted our biggest ever match, a 12 v 12 friendly match with a Borders All Stars Team (players from Berwick-Upon-Tweed, Selkirk, Kelso & Galashiels chess clubs).
